Defend Serra was founded in July of 2020 to fight back against the removal of the Father Junípero Serra monument from in front of the Ventura City Hall and to respond to the unjust slander of Father Serra's honorable life.

Our Mission:

Defend Serra is a community of those who oppose the removal of the statue of our founder, Father Serra, from our beautiful city, as well as the slanderous attacks against him and who stand for a more historically appreciative and collaborative society. Defend Serra will continue to advocate for the return of the statue and for Father Serra's good name.

Preservation of Father Serra’s image on the Ventura County seal

Preservation of Father Serra’s image on the Ventura City police badges

Preservation of Father Serra’s name on Junipero Serra Elementary School

Protection of historic mission property
